Past—Jerry Ayers

A true pillar of the Baltimore community, Jerry Ayers was a driving force behind the success and spirit of the Baltimore Festival. Known for his incredible pumpkin artistry, tireless fundraising, and deep love for his hometown, Jerry gave selflessly to others and brought joy to countless festivalgoers over the years. His creativity, generosity, and dedication helped build the foundation of this celebration. Though he is gone, his legacy continues to shape the festival and the community he loved.
Present—Steve Cothrel

Steve Cothrel has been a dedicated member of the Baltimore Downtown Restoration Committee (BDRC) since its founding in 2007, serving in multiple roles before becoming Director in 2018. He retired after a 30-year career as the City Forester and Park Superintendent for the City of Upper Arlington and spent nine years teaching at Columbus State. Today, Steve continues to serve his hometown through the BDRC and the Baltimore Tree Commission, contributing hundreds of volunteer hours each year to beautify the village, organize community events, and make Baltimore a place people are proud to call home. Steve quietly invests his time and energy in serving the residents of Baltimore.
Future—Ella Harmon

We’re proud to honor Ella Harmon as this year’s Future Grand Marshal! Ella’s heart for service shines through her leadership—organizing annual toy and coat drives for Maywood Mission, volunteering with the Miracle League, coaching youth sports, and reading to elementary students. Her dedication to others perfectly reflects this year’s theme, Celebration of the Future. Ella embodies the spirit of community, compassion, and hope we celebrate in Baltimore. Her actions today inspire a better tomorrow for everyone around her.
